The Tapping Reeve House and Litchfield Law School takes visitors on a journey into the life of a student arriving in Litchfield to study at one of the town’s two important schools: The Litchfield Law School and The Litchfield Female Academy.
With Their Busy Needles
With Their Busy Needles: Samplers and the Girls Who Made Them showcased works from the sampler collection of Alexandra Peters, displayed alongside Litchfield examples from the Historical Society’s textile collection. Peters, a sampler historian and collector, served as guest curator of the exhibit.
This exhibit was on display in 2024.

On display in 2023 and 2024, To Come to a Land of Milk and Honey: Litchfield and the Connecticut Western Reserve tells the story of the Western Reserve (land in present-day Ohio) using the voices of the people who experienced westward migration.
