The Scarecrows are Coming! The Litchfield Historical Society is excited to announce the return of its 6th Annual Scarecrows in the Meadows. The scarecrows will be on display in the Tapping Reeve Meadow from October 18 – November 2 and open for visiting every day from dawn to dusk.
The event is made possible by the dozens of participants that give their time, energy, and creativity to create Scarecrows. Special thanks to our sponsors O&G Industries, Burlington Construction Co., Inc, the Clothes Tree, and Lost Fox Inn.

The Litchfield Historical Society is excited to welcome Lauren Green, Director, Business Development at Viking® and Donna Pace of Litchfield, our local Viking specialist and Travel Advocate for an evening of education, exploration and culture. Founded with the vision that travel could be more destination focused and culturally immersive, Viking has offered enriching voyages since 1997. Join us for a presentation on Viking river, ocean, and expedition voyages designed for the curious traveler with interest in science, history, and culture. Onboard and ashore, Viking offers unparalleled access with world-renowned experts, including historians, local chefs, and famous theater companies.
In addition to the presentation, there will be a Q & A were we will share a collection of diaries, photos, and letters from some of Litchfield’s most prolific travelers.

Join us for a bi-weekly knitting social meetup at the Litchfield Historical Society, where you can meet other knitters, get your questions answered about tricky patterns, and expand your knowledge. No experience is necessary, just a desire to learn to knit! Bring a project to work on and enjoy the company of your fellow crafters. It's a great place to roundtable your ideas and workshop any hiccups you might be encountering in your project. Hosted by Alexandra Herst, a local knitting & crafting enthusiast, is a deep believer in the capability of anyone to master the complexities of knitting, she takes the approach of empowering beginners through education to further their skills and encourage their creativity!
