Biographical Notes:
Christopher Webber was born May 7, 1773 in Walpole, NY to Christopher and Hannah Sumner Webber. In 1792 Christopher and his brother Justus settled in Rutland, Vermont. Christopher practiced medicine, operated a pottery factory and took up farming. Around 1810-12, he removed to Cavendish, Vermont. He and his wife Betsey (Elizabeth) built and lived in what is now the General George F. Davis home in the village of Duttonsville. During his life, Christopher married four times. His first wife was Electa Storer of Stratford, CT, who was the mother of his children. After Electa's death in 1808 Christopher was married again to Betsey Dutton the following year. His third wife was Achsah Wilder. After Aschah's death Christopher was married to her sister, Relief. Christopher Webber died in Cavendish, VT on October 5, 1850 at the age of 77.
