Biographical Notes:
Caroline de Grasse de Pau was the daughter of Francis de Pay and the granddaughter of Admiral Count de Grasse, commander of the French fleet off the US coast during the American Revolution. She married Henry W. Livingston in New York City on February 20, 1823. They had ten children. She died in 1871.
