Biographical Notes:
Ward Woodbridge was born in March 0f 1771 to Ward and Sarah Olcott Woodbridge. After his first wife, Hannah Bigelow passed away, he remarried Mary Strong. Together they had nine children and educated most of them at Sarah Pierce's Litchfield Female Academy.

Ward Woodbridge was a successful merchant in Hartford, Connecticut. He is recognized as one of the first founders of the first "American Asylum for the Deaf and Dumb" in Hartford. He also contributed to the creation of the "Asylum for the Insane."

He passed away on October 31, 1856.
