Description:
Black and white photograph of an oil painting of Dorothy Deming. The photographs of the three paintings of the oldest Deming children - Julius Deming Jr., Charles Deming and Dorothy Deming- all indicate that they were the work of Ralph Earl. They were exhibited in Litchfield during the Connecticut Tercentenary celebration in 1935 along with another of Frederick and listed as belonging to "the Misses Deming," likely Adelaide and Charlotte, where they were seen by Frederick Fairchild Sherman. He included them in his book, "Richard Jennys: New England Portrait Painter" and attributed them to Jennys.
