About the Litchfield Historical Society’s education initiatives
Our partnership with teachers in the Litchfield schools provides curriculum-based programs for the students in the Litchfield School system. The Society’s educators now provide programs for all students in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grades. Many of these involve museum educators visiting the school and multiple student visits to the museum. We research, develop, and offer these programs at no cost to the school system as part of our commitment to serving the town of Litchfield.
The Society also sponsors an active and varied education program for children families, and adults. These include summer programs that allow children to explore daily life during the early 18th and 19th century; book clubs; a week-long Civil War Experience, a week-long program about adventures in early America; and many programs developed in conjunction with current exhibits. The Society’s adult programs include a monthly lecture series, symposia, walking tours, book clubs, and special museum tours.
