Description: While many people cast aspersions at the history of the supernatural, it is undisputed fact that our Litchfield County ancestors believed they had neighbors who were witches. In most cases, the women who were accused of witchcraft fell outside what society expected from their gender. In this talk, teacher and historian Peter Vermilyea will discuss the lives four 18th century residents of the county who were accused of witchcraft, their alleged activities, and the possible motivations behind the accusations
