Fanny Coit McLean letters, 1882

Brief Description: Three letters from Fanny Coit McLean (1852- ) sent from Jacksonville, Fla., to her mother Frances Olmsted Coit (1829-1909). Fanny Coit married Rev. Allan McLean (1837-1882) of the First Congregational Church of Litchfield in 1878. McLean's health was not good and he and Mrs. McLean went to Jacksonville in Feb., 1882, in hopes of a recovery. During this time, Mrs. McLean wrote three letters to her mother, signed with "Kitty," in which she discussed their activities, news of family and friends, and McLean's declining condition. He died in April, 1882. They had two children, Allan McLean Jr. and Henry Coit McLean, and Rev. McLean had a daughter, Anna Genevieve McLean from a previous marriage.
